Ikho Tshweza

Chairman and the founder of Maat, a black African male with a 49% shareholding of the business. He is also the Director of the Legal and Risk Consulting portfolio of the business. He graduated with an LLB degree from the University of Port Elizabeth / Nelson Mandela University in 2004. In 2015, he completed his LLM in Mercantile Law from the University of Pretoria and in 2016 he also completed his Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from Regenesys Business School.

Ikho Tshweza is an admitted attorney and a practising member of the Gauteng Legal Practise Council and with more than 18 years extensive legal and governance experience within the South African legal profession, corporate environment as well as the public sector. He also holds the position of Managing Director at Tshweza Attorneys, a private legal practice that Is growing under his leadership.
Other previous roles have included management positions at the German International Cooperation specialising in corporate governance, legal advisory and public-sector procurement. In 2013, he joined the South African National Space Agency (“SANSA”) as Head of Legal & Compliance and responsible for the facilitation and drafting of the organisation’s commercial, ICT, construction and engineering transactions as well as advising the organisation on policy and regulatory matters related to space law, petroleum law, intellectual property law, competition law, etc. In October 2016, he was appointed as the Acting Executive Director for Corporate Services at SANSA and responsible for managing, directing and leading enterprise-wide ICT, legal services, human capital management, facilities management and SHEQ (safety, health, environment and quality management).

Zikhona Tshweza

Managing Director and co-founder of Maat Advisory (Pty) Ltd, a black African female with a 51% shareholding of the business. She also oversees the management and directing of the Accounting, Finance & Tax consulting portfolio of the business. She holds a BCompt Accounting degree from NMMU and also completed her Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (Honours) degree in 2009 with UNISA. She qualified as a CA(SA) in 2014 and after having and served her articles at PWC and where she gained a vast array of experience in many fields including hospitality, banking, retail, manufacturing, agriculture, heath sector, public sector, minerals and mining industries. She also had an opportunity to be involved in the Quintiles Ltd (now IQVIA) and Southern Sun Ltd (now Sun international) audits. Both companies are dominating in their industries, being healthcare and hospitality respectively.

After leaving the PWC, she joined a medium sized auditing firm (PSTM) as an audit manager. It is at PSTM that she got the opportunity to form part of the audit team for one of the biggest audits in the country at the time, Transnet SOC Ltd and ESKOM At PSTM, Zikhona also became involved in the audit of Eskom’s Transmission Division and with special focus on grid access contracts with Independent Power Producers (IPP’s). As a registered tax practitioner, she dealt with providing tax opinions to clients, managing tax disputes in terms of objections and appeals, meeting with SARS officials on behalf of the client and coming up with solutions.At the beginning of 2015 she joined the Auditor General of South Africa (AGSA) as an audit manager where she provided her dedicated and diligent service to the public sector as an auditor. She sat in the audit committees of various auditees not only presenting and answering questions about audit findings but also providing insightful recommendations to the audit committee members. As an AGSA audit manager, she became responsible for The Innovation Hub (TIH) and The Gauteng Growth and Development Agency (GGDA) audits amongst other clients. In 2017 she decided to venture into business and started Maat Advisory and has seen it succeed from strength to strength.
